Eating out guide to Fort William and Glen Nevis

Fort William and Glen Nevis offer a wide range of restaurants, pubs, bars, takeaways and quality food stores. The standard of food and service is very good indeed, with an interesting selection of establishments offering different atmospheres with a choice of food at a price to suit every pocket.



We recommend Cobbs Bar located around the side of the Nevisport shop in the High Street; The Food Stop in the  Alexandra Hotel, and The Ben Nevis Inn at the start of the mountain footpath in Glen Nevis. Cobbs Bar and The Ben Nevis Inn are cask conditioned ale pubs stocking good quallity beers brewed in Lochaber and the Isle of Skye. For seafood lovers make sure to book a table at Crannog Seafood Restaurant on the town pier - the food is good and so too are the views down Loch Linnhe. At the west end of town The Lime Tree Hotel and Restaurant offers a very pleasant environment to relax and eat good food with friends. Their young Scottish chef is already picking up national awards in recognition of his talents. Glen Nevis Restaurant and Bar is well worth a visit!

Other Eating Out Places...
Outside the immediate Fort William and Glen Nevis area are lots more places to eat. We recommend the Old Station Restaurant at Spean Bridge in the former railway station building. If you click the link on the left which reads "Other Eating Out Places" you'll see another selection of eating out places within the Lochaber area - most within an hour from Fort William - and some a lot closer. We recommend The Strontian Hotel, The Lovat at Fort Augustus and The Old Library at Arisaig. If you are staying in self catering accommodation, some restaurants and takeaways will deliver to your holiday place. The Fort William and Lochaber area has a number of well-respected food manufacturers and suppliers which include shortbread, smoked fish produce, whisky, beer and confectionery. The Old Forge at Inverie on the shore of Loch Nevis, is the most remote pub in the British Isles - and well worth a visit.
