Sports and Outdoor Events in Fort William and Lochaber
Fort William hosts several major international outdoor sporting events each year which include the UCI mountain World Cup, the Scottish Six Day Trials, and the SPEA FIM Trial World Championship. We also host several Highland Games, NO FUSS mountain biking and atheletic events including The Glen Nevis River Race. Then we have the annual Ben Nevis Race and lots and lots of other sporting club events which keep lots of people playing in the out-of-doors.
This page will list all our events as soon as each one is confirmed by the organisers. So if you are involved in any event happening in Lochaber please add it to this website for all to see.

Mountain Bike World Cup
This year the UCI return once more to Fort William for the 2012 Mountain Bike World Cup in Leanachan Forest. The event is usually a superb spectator sport with lots to see and plenty of action. Mountain bikes, gear, competition, exciting mountain sports !

Olympic torch visits Fort William
Come see the Olympic Torch as it travels on its route to London, but not before it has travelled through the Highlands. Arriving in Fort William around 1.30pm it will be carried through the High Street to the Parade and to the Nevis Centre. It will then continue to the Lochaber Leisure Centre before working its way to Spean Bridge around 3.15

Ben Nevis Race
The Ben Nevis Race attracts around 500 competitors each year and is one of Fort William's oldest outdoor activity events in the area. The idea is simply to run from the Town Park to the summit of Ben Nevis and all the way back again - as fast as you can!
