The Ben Nevis Webcam is located at Tomacharich, Fort William. Camera Time is BST (GMT+1) in summer and GMT in winter. The camera viewing angle changes every 5 minutes, rotating through a selection of preset webcam views. The WebCam usually operates between dawn and dusk. Depending on YOUR time of day and location you may not see the mountain live due to night-time darkness in the UK.
Ben Nevis Webcam provides a variety of interesting views of Ben Nevis North Face, Carn Mhor Dearg and Aonach Mor. Throughout the year it often provides spectacular views. In winter, it is an excellent resource for latest snow and ice conditions and a general indication of meteorological conditions. During periods of bad weather in the Ben Nevis area, you may only see a grey picture. Don't worry - this is genuine and is a natural phenomena called Scotch Mist! In summer, the white patches on the mountain are the remaining winter snow patches which last almost all the way through to September, when the snow returns.
Ridge walkers, North Face mountaineers and ice climbers should be able to assess mountain conditions from some of the current WebCam images - subject to suitable weather conditions and cloud level for camera operations. Please follow the link for a considered view of Climbing conditions from a experienced, local mountaineer. If you want to see what some of our ski pistes look like, this same camera will transmit a view of Nevis Range ski slopes on Aonach Mor, the mountain adjacent to Ben Nevis. The mountain Gondola is open all year to visitors, subject to weather. Nevis Range is also home to a World Class downhill mountain bike track.
A Room with a View - The Ben Nevis Webcam is located at Woodside B & B. If you'd like to stay in a comfortable Fort William Bed and Breakfast with this view of Ben Nevis check out Woodside Bed and Breakfast which is less than 10 minutes from the Nevis Range Ski/Snowboard/Downhill Cycle car park, and is within walking distance of the North Face car park for climbers. Woodside also offers quality self-catering holiday accommodation at Cedar Lodge, which enjoys the same view.
We added a TIME LAPSE VIDEO filmed from Cedar Lodge on 12 December 2010 - you can view the video from the link on this page - it's quite interesting as it captured the flights of an RAF search and rescue helicopter around the north face at night.
