Watersports Events in Fort William

Fort William and the Lochaber area is a fantastic location for watersports !

We have rivers and sea-lochs everywhere.

One local sailing club Lochaber Yacht Club is located by the shore on Achintore Road is active for most of the year and is an RYA approved sailing establishment. The Underwater Centre is the UK's number one diving centre and offers recreational diving courses subject to demand. In Glen Nevis the river is a great playground and host to the annual Glen Nevis River Race organised and managed by No Fuss Events.

The local Canoe club is developing a challenging water venue in what we call the Tail Race - the fast-flowing canal which is the outlet from Rio Tinto Alcan's aluminium smelter, and flows into the River Lochy. In Glencoe, Glencoe Boatclub put on a great regatta every year and the sailing boats make a perfect picture with the mountains as a backdrop.
